TOP 10 PLACES TO LIVE IN THE GTA

Compiled is a list of the top 10 cities to relocate to within the GTA, starting with the most affordable (as of April 2020).

  1. Whitby; This city has a small town vibe to it but is still pretty large & is certainly affordable! The average house price in Whitby is $650,000 (compared to Hamilton at 795,000 average). With only a 49 minute drive to Toronto it's rated as one of the top places to live in the GTA.

  2. Milton; Hikers paradise! there are trails / walking areas all over Milton and a ton of cafes, parks, and things like farmer's markets! This is such a cozy city to call home. Milton is also well known for their high school's great reputations, so if you have a teenager and you're considering relocating - Milton is a top choice. The average home here is $714,000 and it's only 52 minutes to Toronto!!

  3. Halton. Hill's. I love the name itself because it sounds so prestigious! The average home here costs around $728,000. Halton Hills is a 60 minute drive to the Toronto Core and has a really low crime rate, tons of trails and conservation areas!

  4. Newmarket; with the average home costing $774,000 it is a bit higher than the first three on this list but is only 47 minutes from Toronto and has an incredibly historic feel to it as it was founded in 1801. There are museums, street side marketers and beautiful waterside paths.

  5. Burlington- I love Burlington, it's always been one of the most desirable areas to live in my personal opinion! I love the small town vibe mixed with big city taste. There are so many amazing small and big restaurants as well as the infamous kelly's bake shop, tons of store fronts along the water front and a really safe downtown core. I love Spencer Smith park- they host tons of festivals yearly (pre covid) and usually host the Sound of Music festival which is really a great experience. side note, I have a really awesome listing there right now at 513-515 Hager Ave- The average home in 2020 to purchase here was $808,000 however a majority of homes I have seen are well into the millions. a beautiful place to live overall.

  6. Aurora: again, growing in price as we go along - $856,000 is the average priced home and Aurora is a smaller town living feel. This is a really kid friendly area!

  7. Markham; This city is a great place to live and is only 33 minutes from Toronto! Markham is a very charming suburban area to live in. The neighbourhoods are adorable and seem like they are out of a movie! In Markham the average homes are $856,000.

  8. Vaughn - home to Canada's Wonderland! There is also some great Outlets here! The average home here is priced at $894,000 - significantly higher than the start of our list but its also only 39 minutes from the Toronto Core and home to many brand new homes and large ones at that!

  9. Caledon! While the homes here cost significantly more and are overall pricier, the cost of living is much lower than many other areas! The homes in the city are beautiful and many of them are new. The average home sale is $961,000; The lot sizes here are known for being much larger per home as compared to other areas in the GTA!

  10. Lastly, the infamous Oakville! I love Oakville, my brother lives here. The average home in Oakville costs $1,000,000 - much much more than places like Niagara or Whitby. The thing to focus on here is the location. It is close to Toronto (only 38 minutes), has huge lots and large, beautiful and prestigious homes. When you tell someone you live in Oakville, they instantly associate with nice homes.

Well, theres my list! If you are considering moving to any of these areas, I am certainly educated on all these areas and can answer any questions that you might have :)
